After a long day of working in the summer sun on her school’s farm, the owner of JB’s Ice Pops, Jena Brooker, had found a fruit and tea ice pop in the staff freezer. At the end of that long day, it was the best thing she’d ever had. When she went to buy more all she could find were your typical pops from the supermarket: Super sweet, made with artificial ingredients, and only available in a few standard flavors.

JB, knowing the true potential of an ice pop, decided she had to make them herself. So she formed JB’s Ice Pops, with the goal of making tasty ice pops, and equally as important, contributing to a local food system. JB’s Ice Pops are handcrafted in small batches, with local ingredients from Detroit and Michigan farmers. The pops highlight the intense flavor of herbs and fruit pairings, instead of covering the taste up with corn syrup. And the pops are just as much for adults as they are kids, with unique flavors like Maple Sage, Basil Lemonade, and Blueberry Earl Grey.
